Sending A Thank You Card

We all receive mail at home, mostly bills, insurance information, bank statements, and advertisements. Nothing too exciting, right? When I was single, I would check the mailbox once or twice per week. Now that I am married, that has changed because my hubby likes to check the mail everyday. I try to go through my mail daily to avoid it getting stacked on my night stand. Every once in  while, I will receive a personalized envelope with my name handwritten on it. It is either an invitation, a just because card from a friend (my favorite), or a thank you card. Recently, I received two thank you cards from friends. It was nice!

I appreciate that they took the time to write the card and send it to me! It was so thoughtful. I try to follow the tradition of sending thank you cards when I receive gifts or when someone does something very nice for me, like hold a dinner party in my honor. Sending a thank you card is not only polite, it is also a nice gesture! We have all become so used to using e-mail or texting, that the tradition of sending hand written cards is less common. Sending a thank you card takes just a few minutes and will surely make the recipient smile when they open it. If they are like me, they will probably smile even before they open the envelope!

Thank you cards are easy to find at stationary stores, on-line, and at most grocery stores. I usually buy them in packets with multiple cards at Target, Papyrus, or Marshalls. I also buy larger, individual cards at Trader Joe’s or Target. The cards at Trader Joe’s only cost a dollar and some people may think they are simpler than more expensive cards sold at stationary stores, but I like the designs and cute messages on them. The quality of the paper is also nice. When it comes to thank you cards, it really is the thought that counts, not the price of the card. So, next time you want to thank a friend or loved one for doing something nice – not only send them an e-mail or text, perhaps also write them a thank you card & send it in the mail. I can assure you they will appreciate the thoughtfulness behind it!

When was the last time you sent a thank you card? And, the last time you received a thank you card?

Diagonal Green

Hi friends,

Hope your week got off to a good start! This week started a little different because I had in interview to host & produce. Most of my shoots are held on Tuesday through Thursday, every once in a while we will shoot on a Friday. Our production crew prefers not to shoot on Mondays because we have multiple meetings at the start of the week and it is also a planning day for them. They also say that when we have a shoot on Monday morning, they spend part of their weekend thinking about the shoot. Hence, it takes some mental time away from enjoying their weekend with family. I agree, the same thing happens to me, but I am still ok with shooting on Mondays.

Anyway, to the outfit. My sister gave me this cute cardigan as one of my Christmas gifts and I still hadn’t worn it. It is so soft & comfortable to wear! Since winter is coming to an end, I decided to wear the sweater before the weather gets too warm. I wore it with a green skirt. To contrast, break the color, and add light, I wore a white tank top underneath and a white belt. I accessorized it with silver, to match the belt buckle. I received many compliments throughout my day, which is always nice!

The skirt seems to be stretching out & feels loose, so I may have to take it to the taylor soon.

Hope you like the look!

Do you have a bright colored skirt? How would you have matched the cardigan? I may also wear it with jeans, navy slacks, or white pants for a more casual look. I did consider wearing it with a red skirt…I may have to try that.

Best wishes for a great week! Make it a good one!

The weather got a bit warm during the day, so I simply wore the cardigan over my shoulders. I was wearing a smaller white tank top under the white top, to ensure it was thick enough – don’t want any see throughs 😉

DSCN8363It isn’t very visible here – I wear small clear rubber bands (for hair) over the end of the belt, to hold  it in place and avoid the flap from being loose. It is challenging to find belts that fit around the waist, so I purchased a belt hole puncher and it works wonders! A very useful item!

Here’s how I wore it on the set for today’s interviews:

Spring Peplum Top

Hi friends – Hope you had a nice weekend!

Sometimes, you can find the cutest clothes at the places you least expect. A few months ago, while buying household items, I saw this cute blue & mint peplum top at Target, yes Target! Isn’t it cute? I was excited to finally wear it! It is peplum style, so it is flattering for all body types. I like the exposed zipper detail it has on the back, it adds a little edge to it. It has been hanging – unworn – in my closet for a few weeks because I had tried it on with different skirts and pants, but just couldn’t find the right bottom to wear it with. I recently bought this dark red pencil skirt at Macy’s, and voila, I had a skirt to wear with the blue peplum blouse. Of course being the practical dresser that I am, this red skirt is a classic style, which I will be wearing often and hopefully for years to come. I matched it with brick red belt, to accentuate my waist, and nude heels to elongate the legs. I opted for silver accessories since the belt has a silver buckle and the zipper on the back of the blouse is silver tone.

I wore this outfit for a Disneyland Resort interview I hosted for ABC10 and liked it so much that a week later I wore it to host an interview on Azteca San Diego regarding the San Diego Latino Film Festival. They are different stations, with different viewers and I was covering different topics, so I figured the viewers wouldn’t notice – I try to wear different outfits for interviews & shoots 😉 .

I wore a Tory Burch white cardigan sweater throughout the day since the air conditioning makes the station a bit cold. This outfit will be wonderful for the spring and summer. I can also see myself wearing it outside of work, maybe for a luncheon or baptism (there area few infants among my family and friends, so I have a few baptisms coming up).

Do you have any peplum tops? Do you have pencil skirts? What do you think of the red and blue combination?

Funny note: Last time I wore a red & blue outfit, granted both colors were a lot brighter than these, many women commented on how they liked the pop of the bright colors….on the other hand, the men (my husband included) said they were “superhero” colors, haha, guess it reminded them of Superman in his red & blue superhero suit. Funny how mens minds work differently than womens’!
